November 2009 Meeting

November Meeting Announcement

Design Challenge 09 Winners

The first annual NUSWUG Design Challenge is over. The solution to the final challenge, the Megaslinky, can be downloaded here.

Chris Bradford, of Magpie Systems, Inc. and Brian Kwant of FLSmidth tied for first place. After an impartial coin toss, Chris Bradford won an iPod Touch, donated by GoEngineer.



Brian Kwant won a digital camera, donated by FLSmidth.



Jack Nichols, of the CAO Group, was the third place winner and won a universal remote donated by FLSmidth.



Thanks to everyone who participated this year.

August Meeting

We had another very successful meeting in August. Special thanks to Jason Stats of Bard Access Systems. He gave a fantastic tips and tricks presentation. His presentation can be downloaded here.

Prize Announcement

Phoenix Analysis and Design Technologies will be giving a demonstration of 3d Printing at our next meeting. In connection with their presentation, they have offered a prize promotion.

The first 3 people who see this announcement and respond via email to me (colin.heald@flsmidth.com) will win a free prototype model (printed from one of your files).

Prizes are as follows:

Logo Competition

DESIGN A LOGO FOR OUR USER GROUP!!

We need a snazzy logo for our blog and for our meeting announcements, etc. Submit as many entries as you want (via email to me). The deadline for entries is 5pm on February 25th (the day before our meeting). Entries must be in jpg, png, or bmp format.

Judging will be done by vote of the attendees at the user group meeting – whoever gets the most votes, wins the prize.

Next Meeting

This is a preliminary announcement.

Our next meeting will be held on February 26th. The location is FLSmidth Minerals, 2850 South, Decker Lake Drive, SLC. We will publish more details (such as an agenda, driving directions, times, etc.) later.

As usual, there will be great prizes and food. Mike Spens from GoEngineer will be giving a presentation on Macros and programming in the SolidWorks API.

There is still plenty of time to complete the November Design Challenge!!
